Going Back to Our Roots

What Defines You?

Our roots. The pieces of our childhood that we seamlessly outgrew. The moments and things that come into our hearts, and make us tear up with the nostalgia of it. The things that defined us.

You probably have a growing list in your mind, even now.

Life, and adulthood, has a way of choking out some of the things that are the dearest to us. The things that make us feel whole.

We would not have grown into the people we are without those roots. Maybe the shuffle of life makes them a little harder to focus on, but they are always with us. And that is incredibly special.

My Roots

On a personal level, the things that defined me as a young person were the stars, camping, swimming in ponds, cards with family, exploring, old-fashioned movies, and poetry.

Those things are always a part of me, but sometimes they get a little lost in the shuffle.

In a recent heart-to-heart with a friend, we both lamented the fact that we haven't written anything in ages. We decided it was time for a change. That being said, my personal goal is to begin writing again.

Responsibilities are not to be neglected. But you should always save some time to do the things that make you feel whole. And that keep the little girl inside you alive.

They say that a goal is much more likely to succeed when it is shared with friends. Please share your goals/memories in the comments!
